Movie Name: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Rating: R
Directed by: Tim Burton

Plot: Set in the 1800's, This movie tells the tale of a barber named Benjamin Barker, who was falsely sentenced to life of hard labor by man named Judge Turpin. Fifteen years later, under the name Sweeney Todd, he escapes and comes back to London looking for revenge. With the help of his friend Mrs. Lovett, they makes a living out of making people into meat pies while he searches for a way to kill Judge Turpin.

My Review: I think the casting for this movie was fantastic. Johnny Depp's acting was amazing. It was quite violent though but the blood looked really fake so it didn't bother me or my 11 year old sister. I wouldn't recommend it to kids though because the violence can be pretty disturbing. The quality of the singing surprised me. Johnny Depp was much better than I expected and everybody else was exceptionally good. The plot line was hard to follow at some points but it was an amazing plot anyway. The last scene was like nothing I have ever seen. It was ironic in a way that really seemed to fit the move. The movie was very dark and grim. I think that this is a good musical for people who don't like musicals. Personally, I don't like them but this movie is an exception. I would give this movie a 9/10 and I recommend it to anybody who would not mind all the throat slitting. If you like this, I recommend Edward Scissorhands which is another Burton/Depp masterpiece.
