Napster is a great program. For only $15 per month, I get unlimited downloads. Some months Im very active, others Im not, but it balances out to be worth it.
While searching for media files, I found they have a huge variety of songs. From the newest pop song, to non-mainstream heavy metal, Napster has it all. The only downside of this is their organization. Many artists are left out when you search by genre. Also, the genres are very basic (meaning no sub-genres), which is a big thing, but I hear they're working on it.
My favorite feature of Napster must be the "Reccomendations" feature. You can type in your favorite artists, and get reccomendations based on that artists style. Another great feature is the "Playlist to Go". You can get a playlist containing 10 tracks based on the type of music you listen to automatically made every day. You get a different playlist each day.
Napster is still new, but is a superb program, and contains an impressive database of tracks.

True, but artists make 7 cents off of a 20 dollar CD. It's total garbage.

Wow, I didnt think their pay rate was that bad!
But, its the record company who markets the CD, has the CDs manufactured, etc.
And, they sell a hell of alot of CDs (if you're mainstream); so, if they sold 300 000 CDs (sorta like Kanye West' "Graduation" in its first day) they would be making about $21 000. Doesnt that seem a little low? But, they also make money from going on tour, selling merch, etc.
Also, if they're only making 7 cents per CD, why not support them?
